Installing a tap, better known in many places as a faucet, poses challenges for many new sink owners. In this blog post, we explain how you can install a single-hole tap directly on the KUNe stainless steel sink and what other options are available.
A sink without a tap?
The tap belongs to a washbasin like the lid belongs to a pot. But where is the best place to fit the tap to the new sink? And how does it all work? These are questions that our KUNe customers keep asking us. That’s why we want to shed some light on the subject in this article and explain the options for fitting the taps.
Two types of mounting
With our stainless steel sinks, you have the option of installing a single-hole tap directly on the sink. The second option is to install a wall-mounted tap directly behind the basin. So let’s take a closer look at the two types of installation:
Option number 1: Installation of a single-hole fitting
KUNe stainless steel sinks are supplied without a pre-cut hole for the single-hole tap. The first question that arises is: How and where can I cut a hole in the basin? If you are installing your basin yourself, you will need a hole cutter to fit the single-hole tap. You can order a Wolfcraft hole cutter directly from our KUNe online store.
Now it’s time for installation: you need to cut the hole for your single-hole tap directly into the tap ledge provided. This is 70 mm wide for our SOLIDUM models and 120 mm wide for our NOVUM basins. This means you have enough space to cut the hole in the basin.
We also recommend purchasing the high-quality Klarco mixer taps from the KUNe online store. We also provide detailed installation instructions for these taps, which are available both with and without a shower.
Please note: The instructions only apply to the Klarco fittings offered in our store!
It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, in this case Klarco, exactly. If you have no experience with the installation of single-hole taps, you should always consult a specialist.

Option number 2: Installing a wall fitting
Installing a wall-mounted tap correctly requires specialist know-how. The condition of the wall, installation height, connections, etc. must be carefully considered before installation begins.
Essentially, the following steps must be taken:
- Determine and measure the position on the wall
- Mark the appropriate position
- Drill the corresponding holes
- Insert suitable dowels
- Attach your fitting
- Fit the necessary seals
- Secure the connections
- Check that everything is tight
- Finished

After installation is before proper care
In most cases, your faucet is used every day, so it is subject to a lot of strain. Good and proper care is therefore important,
in order to enjoy the shine of the tap for a long time. Depending on the region, different water qualities (limescale, etc.) also play a role in the soiling of taps. If you observe the following 7 tap care tips, unwanted
soiling will no longer stand a chance:
- Wait until the tap surface has cooled down before cleaning it.
- Avoid the use of aggressive or corrosive cleaning agents during maintenance.
- Do not use scouring pads when cleaning the fitting; use a cotton cloth instead, for example.
- Ensure that rubber seals do not come into contact with the cleaning agent.
- Citrus cleaners are effective for removing limescale deposits.
- To remove existing limescale, you can use a toothbrush as an aid to clean even hard
to reach areas. - Always finish cleaning with clear water to remove any residue.
We hope that this blog post has provided you with valuable information on installing your mixer tap.
