A brief historical overview
Before there were modern household plumbing systems as we know them today, people made do with other washing and dishwashing aids. A simple wash bowl and jug were generally used for personal hygiene. In the kitchen, pouring stones (washbasins) already fulfilled their role as functional everyday companions in the Middle Ages. Even then, different types of washing and dishwashing aids were used depending on the area of application.
In the 19th century, the first washbasin, the so-called bathroom washbasin, was finally connected to running water, a first important milestone. From this point onwards, the development of the washbasin took off. More and more households were finally connected to the new system. People enjoyed the new luxury within their own four walls. The wash basin was finally mass-produced from the 20th century onwards.
Today, there are countless variants of wash basins in different materials for a wide range of applications. Robust, durable stainless steel washbasins in particular are becoming increasingly popular and are used in households and industry.

High-quality chrome nickel steel (material V2A, 1.4301) is used for the production of our sinks. Synonymous with the term chromium-nickel steel, our website often refers to stainless steel sinks. Briefly explained: Iron, chromium and nickel are the basic components of stainless steel
Chromium-nickel steel belongs to the group of stainless steels (NiRoSta). Stainless steel is defined as having a minimum chromium content of 10.5% and a maximum carbon content of 1.2%. A resistant material that can be used in many different ways. Chrome-nickel steel 1.4301 of corrosion resistance class 2, which is used as standard in our products, is ideal for the manufacture of wash troughs that are used, for example, in the private sector (indoors and outdoors), in the food industry or in agriculture . This stainless steel variant is a true all-rounder and, in addition to excellent corrosion protection, we believe it also offers the best price-performance ratio. Understanding material designations: You may have noticed that there are different designations on the market for one and the same steel, including chromium-nickel steel (1.4301). We have summarized the most common material designations for you so that you don’t lose track:

A commonly used abbreviation for chromium-nickel steel is CNS, which can also often be found online. Our tip: Always pay attention to the material number, only this is really meaningful!
We deliberately refrain from producing sinks made of chrome steel (1.4016), which is common on the market, as this material is the minimum variant of stainless steel and does not meet the KUNe quality requirements. Anyone looking for a sink should therefore take a close look at the material.
The following material offers can often be found on the market:
Polystyrene (PS) or polypropylene (PP). Two plastics that are frequently used in the production of plastic sinks.
Ceramic is often used for hand basins or washbasins in living areas.
Steel washbasins are usually wash troughs made of enameled steel.
Natural stone washbasins are particularly popular with customers because of their appearance.
The material granite (granite aggregate) is also occasionally used to make wash troughs, washbasins or hand basins.
In contrast to plastic, stainless steel is easy to repair and therefore more durable. Stainless steel therefore also scores highly when it comes to sustainability.
If you compare ceramic with stainless steel, it quickly becomes clear that stainless steel is more resistant and easier to repair.
Stainless steel is more hygienic and robust. Enameled steel cannot be repaired even if the surface is slightly damaged.
Although natural stone is beautiful, it is difficult to install. Unpolished natural stone surfaces can also discolor easily. In comparison, stainless steel sinks score points for color fastness and hygiene. In addition, stainless steel sinks can also be a visual eye-catcher: Novum
Granite is heavy and can easily discolor if the surface is not polished. Stainless steel wash troughs are easy to install and versatile.

Sometimes things can break. This is not usually a problem with stainless steel washbasins, as the material is easy to repair.
Stainless steel is a sustainable material and is therefore in tune with the times. It is recyclable and is characterized by a particularly long service life.
The surface of stainless steel wash troughs is abrasion-resistant and does not flake off even under heavy loads. This is a particular advantage in industry, but also in the home.
Stainless steel is food-safe – so it can be used in direct contact with food without any health concerns. It is therefore safe for humans, animals and the environment.
